Don't know if it is cold where you are but here it is damp and cold! Warm coffee time methinks!!

I had a lot of cards to make last week, what with the newborn child of the brother of 'little sis' and three Diwali cards!! The desk is covered with elephants and Indian papers...but sadly I didn't have time to photograph them!

Things are still a little stressful here....not helped by a bully boy (I could understand and deal with it if it were a child but not a grown up who simply wants his own way!) Hopefully he will get what is coming to him!

Now, I have to apologise.....

Things have got a little on top of me of late...sadly not because business is booming but you know the feeling....when you just lack the motivation!! It is really hard to remain enthusiastic when only one person enters a competition! Hay ho...obviously no one wants the chance to win!

Sorry, that was a bit rude....

I was also looking at upgrading the website to see if that would bring more people onto the site but I was shocked to learn the prices! So I am afraid that will have to wait until more business comes my way!

Anyway, I am off to see if there are any creative juices left in my little brain.

Happy Friday to you all, where has this week gone?

We had our September weekend last weekend and that meant that the kids were off school Friday/Monday!! Thankfully both Saturday and Sunday were lovely so we went off on the bikes and cycled along the old road up Loch Lomond.

Back to work though...

How disappointed I was that only two of my lovely ladies entered into the September competition! It just means that they will both get a prize.

October's competition is 'spooky' can be anything you like - just please, please enter!!!!

Kimono in Pink

Good morning all, hope you are all feeling great today!

I am doggy sitting for the next two weeks as my parents are away and I am looking after their 11 year old rough collie as well as my two 6 month rough collies - ah the joys. The older one just isn't interested in the younger ones!!!

Card for today is a real girly one.

I have used the Joanna Sheen stamp for this image - and because of the size of the stammp I needed to use a size 4 card. I rumaged around in the paper box and found some beautiful Japanese papers to use as an accent.

Picking out the colours from the papers I have matted and layered the stamp, and then used some of the adhesive pearls for the flowers.

Afternoon all, hope it is as nice with you as it is up here!!

Having a wee play with the Eastern Blossom papers - they are soooo lovely.

Really, the quality of these papers means that you really don't have to do very much to them at all. Here I have punched out 3 circles (acutally I did 4 but an even number never looks right!) and then taken two strips of the same paper to use as a base, used some gold peel offs and then placed the punched images on.

I took in a small quantity of 'nestabilities' yesterday and have been having a wee play today.

They are really great - and are soooo versitile - I used the 'cuttlebug' and it worked fine.

The stamp is from Woodware, the papers from DCWV.

Eastern Blossoms

Good afternoon all, hope you are all feeling great today.

Finally the rain has gone off and it is bright sunshine - for how long I wonder.

I have at last managed to have a play with the goodies that came in last week from Trimcraft and whoa are the papers fab. So far I have only opened the Eastern Blossoms pack but it has loads of great papers with fantastic designs - I almost didn't want to cut them up.

In the pack I found this great sheet with orchids and a cute little bird. This image was so great that I thought it didn't need much else but a sentiment and flower.

To make this card you will need a size 3 ivory card blank, pack of Eastern Blossoms paper, a matching flower, peel off and bits from your craft box.

Please remember the September competition ends on 30th September - A card with an autumn feel that must include gold!

Tuesday, Tuesday - where does the time go?

Dogs are at the Vets today so trying hard to keep busy - got a really funny feeling taking them in this morning to the hospital as the last time I was there it was with Hamish. However, you can't dwell on the past, I am sure they are in good hands.

I have never tried making easle cards before but I thought that some of the goodies out of the 'jewelled butterfly kit' would really lend themselves to that type of card.

Our large square cards are really ideal for this type of card and the added jewels are just the thing.

Good morning all, and a happy Friday to you!

Finally, we have managed to sort out the computer here at Telfords. The problem was that the old system was Windows HP and the new system is Windows 7 - no one explained that the Sage system would not work! and here was us trying frantically to load and work the system!!!!

Anyway, all is working now and I have spent ages inputting all the invoices for the past 3 weeks....great job.

Last week we attended the funeral of a distant relative in Montrose. Not many people had turned out to pay their respects so when we had to leave to come home and not go for tea we felt a little guilty. I felt that I had to send the daughter a card to explain our absence - it was quite difficult - it wasn't a sympathy card so what was it.....these cards can be so hard to create. Hopefully with the help of My Minds Eye, I have created something that is plain enough but yet has some interest....now my only problem is the wording inside.

Hope you like it....more importantly I hope Alison appreciates it.

We are now back up and running with our Sage System here - thank goodness, mindyou it has given me time to do some samples.

Here I have used some of the elements from the Hunkydory Jewelled Butterfly pack. The colours are just lovely, rich and imposing.

With a little imagination, just think what you could create!

Have you got a preview or what - card is only just finished and the issue of the magazine is not until October but hey - thought I would share it with my friends first.

I took inspriation from a travel agent and their day trips to Lapland (which I have booked but please don't mention to Struan as he doesn't know!!!)

Using the Cricut and the Christmas Noel cartridges I played around with the Santa, trees and house, then turned my creations into an easle card.

Schools back and we are almmost back to normal - whatever that is!!!!

You will be pleased to hear that puppies are still causing chaos and chewing everything in site....I can't have them in the office as they take things out of the dustbin.

The challenge for today is to design a card for Simply Cards and Papercrafts's Designer Card booklet....why did I agree to that? It has to be a Christmas theme and boy are the brain cells struggling!

Need to go and find my santa hat to see if that works!!

Holidays nearly over

Nine weeks ago we were all moaning at the long weeks ahead with children under our feet but now, with only week left - it has not been so bad.

Little sis has been giving me into trouble for not keeping my blog up to date - and she was right!!

Yes, I am apologising again!!!!

It has been a very hectic few weeks here in the Telfords fun house!!

We were supposed to be on holiday this week but Alasdair got a call to go to China last Sunday so holiday had to be put back a week. Now, all going well, we are going to meet up in Gatwick airport on Friday!

Now, I always complain at holiday time because all the packing etc is left to me, but this time because he is away it seems worse as Struan is at my back putting things on the bed for the case - then taking things away - argggg.

Anyway,
thought I would share with you Fudge and Satchmo's awards. They did very well.

Hopefully after the holidays I will be more in tune.

Yes, you might ask where I have been for the last 3 weeks....do you know, I don't know where the time has gone and we are rapidly coming to the end of the school term argh....

I am busy just now making cards - father's day, father's birthday, mother's birthday, mother and father's anniversary, great uncle's 90th birthday - why do they all come at once. As soon as I have got them done I will share them with you.

Friday Card

How good am I....two cards in two days!

Struan has his BB display tonight and this is when he moves up from Anchor Boys to the Junior Section of the BB - so a big night for him...and as usual I need to get gifts sorted out for the leaders!

I have embossed some of our aluminium foil with the cuttlebug and then added 3 skeleton leaves and finally built up a couple of the Flora doodles...all I need now is to get the gifts!

Good afternoon all, hope you are all having a lovely day.

Where is the time going to....

Telfords got a delivery from Trimcraft the other day and boy was it exciting...I can hardly get my work done for playing with all the goodies!!!

I will keep you in suspenders a little while longer re the bulk of the delivery but part of it was a fabulous sheet of Eastern peel offs.

I have used a couple of different techniques on these cards. The one on the right I placed the Qipao on some Japanese paper and then cut out and mounted onto mirror board with foam pads. I folded over a section of the front of a square white card and then glued some of the same Japanese paper onto the inside of the fold. Then mounted the Qipao on the folded back piece.

For the red Qipao I trimmed a piece of white card from the front of a small square card and then placed the peel off onto a small piece of card. Using the markers I coloured in the images and then transferred them to the peel off. Mounted the card onto mirror board and then used foam pads to give a raised look. I added a silver peel off border and some extra fans.

Two great simple cards that anyone could do.

Well, folks it is Friday once again (well actually it is now Sunday and I have only just got round to posting this!!) - where does the time go.

I have kept a doggy theme this week and surprisingly one of a rough collie.

The sheet comes with a rough collie, a lab and one with big flappy ears! They are ideal for a quick card.

Puppies are now getting bigger and getting into trouble day by day.

Part two of the decoupage sheet was very simple...I added some glossy accent to the top layer which really brings them to life..

There is great excitment in the house today as tomorrow is the big day when we collect Fudge and Satchmo. I have just been creating a little bed for them here in the office - so apologies if any of you phone and you hear them!

In my spare time (tee hee) I got another new delivery yesterday - this time work related and it included a couple of rather fun decoupage sheets, both on a Japanese theme, but I think rather cute.

I have positioned him on a couple of old tags I found lying around but I have also used some gems to highlight his kimono.

Apologies for not being up to speed the last few weeks but with school holidays it has taken a lot to even get the orders out...so something had to give!

Anyway, back to school this morning (albeit with no teacher - she is stuck in Spain) and back to the normal day to day things.

Thought I would share with you our two new arrivals - well they are not here yet but will be on Saturday.

Fudge and Satchmo wil join our happy family on Saturday and boy is there excitment in the house!

Well, it is the 29th March and we have snow!!! and the school breaks for Easter hols on Wednesday - great.

Now, how often have you heard 'do you have a card for.....'? In this house it happens all the time and people think that just because you run a craft business there are cards at your fingertips! However, the more times that happens the fewer cards there are available!

This card solves all these problems. I have used a chippie flourish and then inked it up using a variety of inks. While the ink was wet I sprinkled on some glitter. The backing card is highlighted with some of the same inks. Then matted and layered. A little purple ribbon and a crystal gem finishes off the card.

Hope it inspires!

No folks, I did not run off with the Scotland rugby team (as some of you thought!!) it has just been a really busy time here.

We have been dog sitting for Kimber (the late Hamish's brother) and because he does not have anyone to play with I have had to take on that role and take him out for walks everyday. I have drawn the line when it has been pouring with rain! Anyway, his mum and dad are back on Monday so hopefully that will take a little pressure off! Having said that what happens next week - ah yes, Easter hols start - on Wednesday!!!! Bang goes all the plans again.

I have been fairly busy with new products and have been trying to play with some of them to get some samples out to you.

As you all know by now my passion is anything eastern so there are no surprises as to what is coming next!

This one is using one of the Joanna Sheen stamps and with a little colour and then clear embossing powder it has turned out rather nice. I also stamped one onto shrink plastic and then attached it with some ribbon.

A Very Happy Friday to you

Yes, it is Friday again, how time flies - unfortunately not as fast as the snow clearing from the garden!

I have been playing around with some new products over the last few days and boy have I been having fun.

Telfords stock quite a lot of the Hunkydory range and we have now expanded that range to include some of their card kits

This first one is the glamour girls kinetic - looks complicated but as the parts are all die cut for you it doesn't take that long and the finished card looks great!

Now we go onto butterflies and there are two kits here but my favourite must be the jewelled kit. The colours here are so rich they make lovely cards.

I have also had some of the new Martha Stewart punches delivered and they are a joy to work with. A new baby card was required today and so I used one of her border punches to give some interest to some backing paper - lovely.

8 year olds birthday card

Now, you are really surprised!!!

Three posts in the one day - that is because I don't yet know how to stagger them...will need to get a lesson from Lorraine!!

I have given this decoupage a slightly boyish twist....using one of the new 'Craftime' frames, I cut out the aperture and then fixed some acetate onto the back of the frame....the first image was stuck to the inside of the card and then the next image was stuck onto the acetate building up from there.

With the handy 'Cricut' I cut out the U r 8 and fixed them to the bottom of the card.

All this and trying to find a puppy....phew!

Mother's Day

I know this is highly unusual, me posting twice on the one day but hey, I am on a roll!

Mother's Day is fast approaching and as my mother is heading off to the sun on Sunday I had to get myself organised.

I found a medallion stamp in the cupboard and set to create a special card for her. Now Mum is very fond of pinks and blues so I have used these colours to form the design. Not many people use gatefold cards nowadays but I think that the medallion stamps lend themselves to these cards.

I stamped out five times in total, 3 on blue and 2 on pink then cut out the various sections and glittered as appropriate...then mounted using foam pads.

The matting and layering was done with the same card but on the blue I have added some organza ribbon. When I used the double sided tape I found that this showed through on the finished card so had to put some thicker ribbon over the top.

For the lettering I used a stencil and a steel point pen and then added some of the new mini crystals in pink.

Now, Struan likes to make a card for Granny as well (although he doesn't understand why she has to get on Mother's Day!) anyway, his idea of making usually involves me putting everything together and he takes the credit - well I suppose as long as he gets away with it......

Here I have trimmed one of his birthday photos to fit one of the new Craftime' frames. I have added a couple of the 'Floral Doddles' and a blue button and then finished it off by stamping the sentiment along the bottom.

I am sure Granny will appreciate the work that has gone into the making of them both.

Little Sis has moved

Well folks, my 'little sis' has now moved into her own place! Well done to her and I am sure that you will join me in wishing her lots of happiness in her new home.

Now I had to make a card for her so I turned to the Cricut for some inspiration.

I cut out a 'front door' and then two trees in brown card stock and then another two trees in green.

With the numeric stencil, I found that by using the steel gold pental pen, I got a really good finish.

Hamish

I am sorry to say that our beloved Hamish had to be put to sleep on Friday. I had to make the decision on Thursday night when I realised that there was no hope left for him and to keep him living would not be fair on him.

It was a terrible phone call to make but it had to be done. It was equally painful as today is Struan's birthday and there was a birthday party on Saturday which, on reflection, was probably better as it took our minds in another direction!

Well, not good news today on Hamish. Vet is astounded by how rapidly he has gone downhill....

I have to tell you that it is heart breaking to see him the way he is but there is really very little that we can do for him. The vet wants to give him one more week to see if a miracle happens but deep down I doubt very much that this will be the case...although we live in hope.

There was a possibility that he could be sent to the vet school for further investigation but the vet feels that this would be added trauma to him and I cannot do that especially when there is no guarantee that he will be better at the end.

It is a truly horrible position to be in at the moment - one I would not wish on anyone...to make a decision like this is unimaginable for your pet...goodness knows what it is like for a human!

Competition Winner

Well, good morning everyone, hope you had a fab weekend.

The Wedding Show was hard work for me. It is ok when you are busy but when the fashion show was on - not a sole was about....anyway nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.

Back to reality this morning and the picking of the Valentines Competition. We had 10 entries (ok one was mine - so that brought it down to 9!!) It is really hard to judge these things as everyone had put so much work into it....but sadly there can only be one winner....Mary O'Shea.....Mary, there was just something about that little bear on the front that caught my eye.....well done.

It completely slipped my mind what day Sunday was, what with all the preparations for the exhibition....so - chippies in hand I set to make a card for Alasdair.

It was done in a rush but the thought was there! I sprayed the chippie heart with memory mist then heat dried....stamped with embossing ink pad...then clear embossing powder - which gives a lovely enamel finish.

Hamish update

After the visit to the Vet on Monday there was no clinical problem so the Vet wanted to do a full blood test....off we went again on Tuesday...blood taken....results.....nothing! Everything functioning properly....so what is wrong....no idea..but talk about stress.

just to let you all know that Hamish is visiting the vet again this afternoon - this time to have some blood tests....the vet cannot find anything clinically wrong with him...so he just wants to make sure that there is nothing underlaying.

I just wanted to share with you this very, very quick card I have had to make in the midst of all this - chippies are wonderful things.

Just hope that he doesn't take offence at me putting the big number on the front!!!

Not a good one here! Hamish is going to the VET today as he is not eating and struggling to get up so all is not good in doggy land.

We also had friends for dinner on Saturday night and they decided to leave their car and collect it on Sunday morning....so we get ready to go out on Sunday morning (last minute as usual) and guess what.....yes Alasdair reversed into my friends car!!!! Fortunately she was very understanding - lets say more understanding than I would have been...

So all in all not a good one for us.

Good evening all, hope you have had a fab day.

Not content with all the stock taking that I have had to do over the past week I have also decided to exhibit at a wedding exhibition at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall!

So today I have been really busy trying to come up with ideas...when I worked out the cost of doing stationery DIY compared to getting them done by someone else I was quite amazed...it works out at one third of the price!! Not sure if brides to be realise this or not.

Anyway, I though I would share one that I made with you. It is using our new range of Glasgow Rose stamps - this one is called Glasgow Rose. Hope you like it!

Well, good afternoon bloggers - hope you are nice and cosy.

Again it was -7 this morning plus you couldn't see in front of your face for the fog. I was doing my taxi service by taking Mum to Tesco - the motorway to Silverburn was at a standstill and the fog made it worse.

Anyway, I am supposed to be doing my stock take but I can't seem to get motivated to get organised so made a card for Alasdair's uncle. Hope you like it - I used stuff from our Asian Inspiration bag....backed the card with the Wasabi Sushi scrapbook paper then sprayed the gate with some mist and added some glitter.....plain but I think it looks good.

I am trying very had to be positive!!!!!.....the temperatures here have not risen above 0 since well before Christmas (on Christmas Eve it was -7 and that was at lunchtime!)....it started by being really nice..and the kids thought that it was great - a white christmas - but honestly...we have now had enough..we are very generous here and would be delighted if someone else got it for a while!

Have to go now and prepare for the annual stock take...what fun is that!

It is still -3 here but fortunately we only have a light covering of snow!! I don't mind now if it snows as Struan stops for holidays today in 1 hour so at least I won't have to get up and out early in the morning.

Another Mum and I are taking the boys for lunch after they break up so anyone who is in Frankie and Bennys at Silverburn - watch out - two very wound up people will be there (and that is just the mums!!).

I just wanted to say to you all that there is some sort of scam around at the moment from a company called PDS - turns out when you ring the number it is in Belize!!! Please don't ring - if you do and you hear the automated message you will already have been billed over £300.

Telfords only use DHL or Royal Mail for all our parcels.

Good morning all, hope you are all feeling great and not too stressed out.

Do you know, I love Christmas and all that it means but this must be one of the worst weeks on the run up....everyone is stressed with constant lists and places to go and people to see...it is just such a busy week.

Being in the craft industry I have been surounded by Christmas since July and whilst I started out with great intentions of making all the cards...I have to admit that this did not last and I went to Marks and Spencers...there are now envelopes everywhere..in different piles..all over the house...some have got stamps..some have to go to the post office (as they have decoupage on them)..and some have to go abroad! I just can't wait to get rid of them (sorry post them).

I have made all the special ones, for Alasdair, Struan, little sis, mums and dads and I thought I would share Struans with you.

I have used the Snowman set and done a little bit of artistic decoupage. What brings this to life is the added extras....stickles for the trees, liquid pearls for the nose and some glossy accents just highlighting some of the key areas.

I hope he likes it!

Well, good morning all, hope you have all had a fab weekend....we have had a really cold spell...so it is time to bring out all the winter woolies!!!!!

Struan has a day off school today...St Andrews Day....not sure why they have the day off but we are heading to the Dr Who exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Galleries...his choice I might add.

You will all be pleased to hear that my eye has now recovered and I have finished taking the drops...although will have to wait a few weeks before I attempt to put in my lenses....would be interested to hear if any of you have gone down the route of laser treatment!

Well, good morning from a very dull, wet Glasgow!

What can you do but stay in doors and do some crafting!!!!

I don't know what it is like in your household but here Alasdair will come home one night and tell me that it is someones birthday at work and could I do a card....oh and by the way...it is tomorrow....(bear in mind that he is never home before 7pm!) This situation happened last night...so I had to make a quick card...thankfully the recipient is a dog lover as we had just had a delivery of really cute die cut dogs.

I cut out an oval shape and then positioned the collie over the cut out...I then used some of the dog ribbon down the side to add a bit of texture...I always find that adding a bit of texture brightens up an otherwise dull card.

I have also opened a Facebook page for Telfords customers....I will send out a packet of Celtic seals to the first 10 people who join up!! You will find us at sheonagh at Telfords.....the idea is that you can post your cards, share your ideas or quizz others...I hope you will find it useful.

Good morning all, I hope you are feeling chirrpy this lovely morning.

I must apologise for my lack of communication, delay in orders etc over the last few days but I have not been firing on all engines as they say.

I woke up last Wednesday with a really sore eye so I didn't put my lenses in and wore my glasses all day. Thursday it wasn't any better so toddled off to the opticians who sent my to the local A&E eye hospital. Turns out that I had an ulcer on my cornea!! Left there with anit-biotics and was told to report back on Saturday which I duly did and thought to myself that it was getting better only to be told by some young doc that if I stayed in Ayrshire, I would have been admitted into hosipital!...Now for those of you who know me..my dislike of hospitals...I nearly passed out on his floor...the ulcer had grown slightly and I was given two lots of different anti biotics that I had to take every hour during the day and every two hours at night....Alasdair was really pleased about that one. The problem was that one of the drops was really stingy to go into my eye and by the time Sunday afternoon came the bottom of my eye was so red and raw looking. Back again to A&E yesterday to see a much nicer lady and Doc who said that I had taken an allergic reaction to the drops but that the ulcer had started to knit together..so back on the original anti biotics and some steroids to try and rectify the secondary complaint!!!

Talk about being through the wars..so I apologise if your orders have not been going out as quickly as they should have..will try and catch up.

My goodness, where has the time gone to....two weeks have gone by...slap of the wrist for me!

Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang was fantastic and Struan forgot all about the fact that it was Halloween.

I made a complete muck up of an order for Telfords the other day..those of you who sign up to the newsletter will already know all about it...in short my customers are getting a great deal..pop over to the front page of the web site later today for more information.

These cute little cards are made from the 3D collection of Christmas Faces. All I have done is create little apetures and then attached on the faces. I have highlighted them with some Stickles and Perfect Pearls to add some interest. These are on special offer just now as the cards and envelopes are free of charge.

Halloween is shortly upon us...and I am not the most popular mother in Glasgow...you see I booked tickets to go and see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Kings Theatre..so poor, hard done by Struan cannot go out trick or treating....

However, all is not lost he went to his Anchor Boy party on Tuesday and I just wanted to share with you the photo

Just in case some of you don't know what he is dressed as - it is a piece of lego....there is lego in every room of our house and now there is this huge model which he now refuses to put in the bin...

Any suggestions?????

Oh no, can it really be a week since I last posted! Don't know where the time has gone.

Had a delivery from Joanna Sheen the other week and had ordered some of the stamps only to discover when I unwrapped them that you need to add foam to the back or else they won't stick to the blocks...not a happy bunny...can suppliers not understand that in this climate small companies can stock a small selection of items..would it not be better if all stamps were able to fit onto the acrylic blocks without haveing to add to them...moan, moan, moan..anyway this one has made into a really nice card and I am pleased with the result although I don't think I will be stocking many of her items!

Here I have designed my own backing paper by using the bamboo stamp with a mottled green ink and then inked the edges with the same ink pad. I stamped out the ladies kimono and used muted tones of watercolours together with a gold pen to highlight areas. Put it all together and added a little ribbon...quite sophisticated don't you think.

Better go to the post now and send out more catalogues....the number of people who ask for catalogues and then never order is amazing.

Happy Tuesday to you all - and a belated happy Diwali!

We are just back from a few days in Cologne since it Struan's school holiday week. Alasdair was attending the Anuga trade show so we decided to go along for the ride. Many of you know my 'little sis' and that Struan calls her Auntie - he has been brought up not to question race or colour something that both Alasdair and I feel is very important.

In Cologne we met up with Auntie Ann

Ann is from a factory in China which Alasdair deals with and although Struan and I don't see her very often it is always great fun when we do! I did tell her all about the blog - so I hope she sees this!!

Now, Uncle Bill and his family live in California but again are from China, Alasdair speaks with him almost every day and there is a great friendship bond there. This has also passed to Bill's children and to Struan - all three had great fun when they visited Hong Kong Disney together - no complaints about sore legs!!

It is a sobering thought that children don't question why but take people at face value - now that is something adults could learn from them!!

Quiet day tomorrow so hopefully we get on with the Telfords Newsletter and some samples.

Happy Friday to you all....

We are chasing our tails today...school breaks up this afternoon for a week so it is all go....we are heading off to Germany tonight via good old Ryanair - cheap, not so cheerful, but on time (hopefully) so there is lots to do.

To top it all it is my friends birthday on Wednesday - she has been having a rough time over the last few weeks so hopefully this will cheer her up.

I have used the 'Wild Asparagus' again with some matching papers and the lovely floral doodles just in from Joanna Sheen - they are lovely - will try and get them on site next week..I think they finish off the card really well.

Well, must dash, cases to pack.....

Well, good afternoon all, I hope you are in a better mood than I am today....I promise I won't moan too much....but....

Telfords are famous for the 'orignal card display stand' which we make up ourselves
as Struan and Alasdair show...now these stands are then wrapped in bubble wrap and put in big boxes..well, guess what....I have run out of boxes!*()_)...I put the order in last week and normally the company are great and they come the next day but this week..when I really need them..they are out of stock...worst still - they promised them today - and they haven't come....so it will now be Wednesday before they come to me...as it is the October week next week and we are away for a few days.

I think my blood pressure has risen a few notches...but what can I do....not a thing.

On a more cheerful note..I took in some stock of Joanna Sheen merchandise today...what fab stuff..there are some great tassles for your Eastern Cards....a fab range of Flora Doodles and some of the rubber stamps..so although I want to go away for a few days..I would also like to be here to play with the new stuff...I will try and get them on the site ASAP (well I have nothing else to do until these bleep boxes come in!)

Hi all, hope you are feeling good today....it is very dull and wet here so we are not our usual cheery selves...the weather for the next couple of days looks just as bad so I guess that it will be a weekend of baking and card making - yipee.

We had a really interesting visit last weekend....the son of the man who built our house in 1924....the stories he had to tell were really interesting and it was so nice to have him and his wife...and it turns out that he was a founder pupil at the same school that Struan goes to..and he is an only child...

Well, must go, have my mum here measuring out the sinamay mesh - a job that I hate doing...

Hi all, hope you have all had a wonderful day.

Remember I was telling you all about the new edition of the Glasgow Cookery Book and how three of us were due to be on the TV - well click onto http://player.stv.tv/programmes/the-hour/2009-09-16-1700/# to see the outcome. Thankfully the shot with the rhubard was cut!!! ....it is on a need to know basis!

Our group have had a great time helping with the new edition and today saw the launch of book.

Around 500 people crowded into the Glasgow Caledonian University to mark the launch of the book. It was a lovely afternoon, all the volunteers were presented with special boxed editions of the book - something I am sure we will keep as a great memento.

The Glasgow Cookery Book is a recipe book that should be on the shelves of every household...it has stood the test of time and whilst the recipes don't come from a TV chef they are tried and tested by students of the 'Dough School'...and I can say that as I was one of them!

You can buy the book on Amazon for £14.99 and I would thoroughly recommend it......

You know that way.....the date rings a bell but you're not sure why..then you go away and do something else...only to discover a couple of days later that you have missed the anniversary of friends!

Hey ho.....that's what happened today...I knew that it was September I just wasn't 100% on the date...suffice to say that it was actually Monday past..I hope they will forgive me.

Anyway, out came the trusted 'Wild Asparagus' again - thy really are fab papers...the colours are so muted that you could find matching card stock anywhere...this one comes from the Far East Stack...and goes really well...the strip of paper down the side is an off-cut from the Wild Asparagus sheet...added a couple of gems and used Perfect Pearls for the sentiment.

Off to the airport tonight to meet Miriam - hope she is ready for Struan....

Hi folks, hope you are all feeling great today.

We've had a busy weekend here....Alasdair came home from China on Saturday and I dragged both him and Struan to Glasgow Green to see Proms in the Park..which was good although I do feel that the Hyde Park concert is streets ahead.

The start of a new week does not appear to mean the start of things calming down...swimming club for Struan tonight, Anchor Boys tomorrow, for those of you following the blog - watch the tv on Wednesday night STV from 5-6pm..the filming we did the other week is on, Thursday we meet our new aupair - Miriam - from Germany..which we are all very excited about.

Friday is also a big day in Glasgow...it is Deacons Choosing Day..for those of you not familiar with Glasgow traditions visit www.tradeshouse.org.uk created over 400 years ago it works quietly away helping charities all over the town. Alasdair was Deacon of the Coopers a few years ago - an office which only lasts one year! Anyway a new Deacon takes over on Friday and I thought I would create a special card for him and his wife. It is a very hectic year but one which I am sure they will enjoy. I found this barrel charm which I thought was very appropriate for a cooper!

The little keg is really cute and could be used for a number of projects!

Good morning folks, hope you are all enjoying this inidan summer!

First of the card classes was supposed to start yesterday - despite putting adverts in the local shops and the local paper only one lady turned up....then decided that she would rather learn in a group so left...not to be put off I turned my attention to the parcels that arrived through the week.

A new batch of products came in from Trimcraft...which I am sure you will love. The wild asparagus title really amused me but I thing the results are fantastic.

Here I have used some of the 'Far East Stack' and added a button and one of the little 'wild asparagus' pearl domes.

Hi folks, hope you are all doing well.

It has been a busy few days here in the office but at last I managed to get a card made for the brother of 'little sis'.

Despite his accent he is a scot and what better theme I thought...so out came the trusty clear stamps from Woodware. I kept the tones all the same and created a piece of backing paper using the acorn stamp...using some of the green ribbon from my range I covered the rough edge and then stamped Mr Stag on another piece of card...inked up the edges...coloured with watercolour pencils..and fixed him to the card. The sentiment comes with the stamp set..an added bonus I think.

Hope he likes it (little sis - don't tell him it is coming!!!!)

Just before school started we had a party...it was supposed to be in the garden but good old Scottish weather meant that we had to have it inside.

Forty or so friends and family joined us for lunch and jazz....thought you might like to see the jazz band...my Dad (who is sometimes in the office and may have spoken to you) is the one on the trombone!

What a day I have had......the hens went AWOL! Talk about panic...they were outside the office door quite happy and I was busy doing the orders..time flew by and then suddenly I was aware that they weren't there...
Picture the scene..me, wellies, pouring rain, shouting 'come on girls'..I can laugh about it now but boy was my little heart pounding.
I was sure they were in some foxes tummy somewhere...now we have over an acre of ground here..trees, bushes...I had almost given up hope when I spied them away at the bottom of the drive...yards from the busy road...well you should have seen the state trying to get them back into the pen..that's where they are now and that's where they are staying.

I should say that is minor to the news I got this morning. My cousin (well 3rd actually but who's counting) sent me a mail from Canada to say that his wife had died during the night. Carol had suffered from cancer and Don had cared for her during these last few months, relying on friends and family with emails. He, like me, Alasdair and Struan, is an only child and whilst it brings its benefits it is also at times like these when a brother or sister might come in useful - however outwith his sons, my Dad and myself are his only family - so we are all rather subdued today - perhaps the chicken escapade with a pleasant diversion!

My thoughts are with Don, Lorne and Dale at this sad time.

Good afternoon all, what a dreadful day - it has not stopped raining here.

It is Grandad Callum's birthday on Thursday...he is in his 80's and has spent most of his time in Africa..so designing a card for him is extremely difficult!

Anyway I have decided to keep it simple and used the premium card ranges. I have kept the tones to brown and teamed it up with some matching ribbon. It is quite plain but I am sure he will appreciate it non the less.

Must go to the post office and post off my application to CHA and then pick up Struan - no golf today but swimming - he could do it in the garden but we are off to the pool!!

There has been great excitment in the office this week as we have been trying out some new products. I always like to get some extra and have a go myself...there is no point in selling products that you don't know how to use!

There are some fantastic decoupage Christmas sheets in and we have put them into packs as I thought they might sell better...let me know what you think please.

Good morning all, and what a lovely day it is too!

Struan is back to school and the sun is shinning - typical. Anyway, 8 weeks have passed and I feel really guilty that I have not been updating the blog but such a lot has been happening - what with holidays, parties etc.

One major thing happened last week though .......

In the past, I went to Queens College in Glasgow which was affectionately known as the 'Dough School' producing some of the best Home Economics teachers about...The 'Dough School' worked with the Glasgow Cookery book which had some fantastic recipies - from Haggis to Queen of Puddings - the list was endless....It is celebrating 100 years this years and to celebrate this it was decided to re-issue the book..so about 12 former students (including me) set about the task to bring the cookery book up to date.
Now for the exciting part...obviously with book lauches (23rd September)there has to be publicity photos and these were done at the start of the summer - and published in the Glasgow Evening Times a couple of weeks ago....but also the launch is going to be promoted on the tv and three of us had a very enjoyable afternoon last week filming for what will probably be a very short VT.
I promised the girls that I would post the photographs on the blog so here goes.

Afernoon all, hope you are having a great Friday and looking forward to the weekend. I am off to Skye this afternoon until Sunday, brief visit, but there are a couple of things we have to do up there. So just going to pack up the DVD's etc to ensure that Struan doesn't get bored on the 7 hour journey!

Before I go, I wanted to share a couple of photos with you from Portugal. Some of you may know that I am not a sailor, so you will be surprise that the other two got me on a boat to see the dolphins out in the Atlantic. What a fabulous time - it was great to see them in their natural environment. If it was up to me that is where they should be and not caged up in a zoo.

Back home safely after three weeks holiday! Can anyone tell me how three weeks away can go faster than three weeks at home? Answers on a postcard.....

Also, give me a dig if I mention that I am flying with that Irish bunch again - present company excluded of course - the only thing that they have got going for them is that they are generally on time and the price (although given the number of people that were being sent to pay for extra weight allowances I am sure that they would not agree)

Anyway, holiday was great, went for picnics, went to the beach, swimming, got stung by a wasp and went away on a boat to see the dolphins (will share a picture with you next week - once I have downloaded them). It was fantastic and given that I don't really do boats a major plus for me....

Back to earth with a bump now and trying to get everything sorted out. Big, big thanks to my Dad who held the fort at Telfords - and a big thank you to you all if you have placed an order over the last few weeks and waited a little longer for it to arrive - he was doing his best.

Everything will be more or less back to normal on Monday although school is not back until 24th August.

Good morning all and a very happy monday to you.

Hope you all had a fantastic time over the weekend. I had a great time catching up with my 'little sis'.

Now it won't take a brain surgeon to suss out that we are not actually sisters but we are as close as. We are always there for each other and Struan refers to her as his auntie...something I think is extra special in this day and age.

I have a busy few days ahead, what with looking after Struan, getting the orders out, leaving instructions for Dad in the office and getting packed ready to go on holiday on Wednesday....so please don't be angry with me for my short blog and if I don't get round to blogging again before holiday, I will afterwards.

Had a busy day yesterday, it was Struan's Sports Day which was held in the Kelvin Hall. He had a great day and really enjoyed it....best of all....he came first in the egg and spoon race!!!!!Obviously keeping chickens did the trick!(that's him in the middle getting his badge!)

Tomorrow marks the end of term and he tells me he has over 8 weeks holiday...yipee..so apologies in advance if my blogging falls behind!

Well, good morning to you all.

Things are a bit mad round here this week....having a new kitchen fitted and although it started on Monday we are still no where near resuming normal kitchen duties!!!So I am taking shelter in the office with just the odd visit over the garden to see what they are up to.

We are very fortunate that my parents just live a short distance away so we are constant visitors around meal times!

It is their anniversary on Saturday - 45 years - and never a crossed word (tee hee - if you believe that you will believe anything!)

Here is the card I have made this morning - using the Woodware stamps - they are really so handy and can be used for so many different cards.

Isn't this weather great!

Just wanted to share with you this card that I had my ladies making this morning.

Firstly we made the beaded dragonfly which, admittedly, took longer that anticipated! It is really quite a fiddle with the little seed beads but well worth the effort and the beauty is that, as we used thin wire, we could change the shape of them to suit the page.

I had a little laugh to myself as the ladies all thought that they were going to have to glue each of the little pearls onto the card individually.....I waited a while to tell them that they were on a self adhesive strip and would come off quite easily.

Happy Friday to you all....

My apologies for not being in touch but as Struan was telling me yesterday 'this year is going so fast' - and I have to agree with him.

I have taken in some new stock at Telfords so that has been my excuse to have a little play with some of the products.

These chippies are really fun.

Here I have covered a large card with some paper from the 'Dovecraft' Birthday pack and also covered the '7' chippie with the same paper.
I then mounted the '7' on a pale blue tag and added some gingham ribbon.

With Fathers Day approaching fast I though I would make my Dad a card using the alphabet chippie.
I have covered the card again with DCWV Old World Stack paper - these papers are just fantastic - then I took a large tag and placed the letter D on the tag with the a and d along side. Using the memory mist sprays I created a marbled effect then removed the large D.
Using some of the great new ribbons - they just add an extra texture to the card.

All the products that I have used we stock on the website.

I have had a fabulous week....I took my mum down to London on Wednesday and as a surprise arranged to meet up with my little sis (well, she's not really my little sis but our families have been friends for 40 years so she is as good as)...anyway little sis met us in the hotel and we went off to see Michael Ball in Hairspray....what energy the cast of that production have...we were tired just watching them..Mum, little sis and I really enjoyed our night out and would suggest that if you are down in London before July go and see it..after July someone else takes his part.

On Thursday we had a real girly day strolling round London, stopping off for the odd coffee or two and then havning in lunch in Fortum and Mason...it was really nice to be part of the Ladies who Lunch set...if only for the day.

Back home now and just waiting to see if Struan likes his present from Hamleys.

Monday again and at least it has stopped raining!

It has rained here every day which has not pleased the hens one bit.

Big news of the weekend is that Struan can now ride his bike without aid - yipee....he had been fine with the stabilisers but as soon as they came off he lost confidence and always wanted either one of us behind him...however, yesterday (once the rain had stopped) we went down to the local school and hey presto off he went! The look on his face was a picture and he didn't want to come home...now I think both Alasdair and myself will need to get bikes to keep up with him..

Busy week this week....off to London on Wednesday with my Mum to see Michael Ball in Hairspray...will let you know on Friday how we get on.

Happy Friday to you all, I certainly hope that it is better where you are. The rain has not stopped here and it is really cold....what was that saying about May?

Anyway, poor Flora, Dora and Sally (that's the chickens if you don't already know) don't fair too well in this weather. Their feathers aren't waterproof so the poor soles are huddled together under their home....don't they know that if they go up the ladder they could be warm and dry....but there again their food is outside.

In their honour I did a quick card for them today...just a bit of fun really...hope you like it...they did!

Yipee, we are now back in business.

What a day....I have not done anything but sit on the phone trying to sort out the system.

Well, that is not entirely true, spent ages on msn talking to my friend down under and then took some time to do this card for another friend.

Hope you like it..I seem to be adicted to these stamps from Woodware and for some unknown reason this is the second one I have done on the purple theme.

Ah the wonders of technology.....we are changing over servers at Telfords today. For you logging on it will seem seamless and easy for me on this end it is very confusing.

As you all know I am not the most technical of people and therefore don't have any time for things if they don't work...so you can imagine there has been blue smoke coming from the office this morning.

My new telephone 'friend' Chrissie, at Penguin Internet, has been very patient with me...she must think - what a dope - and bless her, she is trying to explain everything very basically, however, we are still not quite there yet.

Hello all, hope you are all feeling great today.
I don't know where the time has gone this past week. I have not been that busy but time has flown by.
The new chickens are doing well and seem to enjoy their new home although one, Sally, has taken to lay her eggs with soft shells so had to take a trip to the farmer to get crushed oyster shell...don't know how she digests it but it is supposed to do her good!
Alasdair's birthday today so Struan wants to bake a cake...he wants condensed milk, chocolate sauce and strawberries...now I know I spent my time in recipe development but I think this is beyond even me. We may have to forgo the milk and replace the chocolate sauce but who knows.
Will let you know how it goes.

Stamping onto acetate is not the easiest of things to do but I stamped the notes as a border for this music themed card and used the black and white of the keyboard to come through with the colours of the card.

One of the nice things about my job is that I never know who is going to be on the phone or indeed what they want.

You can imagine my surprise this afternoon when this person phoned up to order 300 lambs for invitations. I thought to myself 'what a party' but I also thought that the power of blogging was great.

I tried to be polite and tell her that they were non stock items and that I would need to do them for her. 'That's fine' came the reply - 'do you want my name and number'.....You can imagine my surprise when she told me - yes folks Mandy phoned me all the way from Australia to thank me for some photos I had mailed her. I still can't believe it to be honest and I am so delighted I cannot tell you.

It just goes to show you - pick up the phone to someone you haven't spoken to for ages - believe me it will be worth it!

Guess what came today?

Yes, Flora, Dora, and Sally arrived yesterday and duly performed today! Struan is obsessed with them - poor things.

Wanted also to share with you that I am now back in touch with an old, old friend - don't know if she is into crafting yet or if she will read this but I will work on it!

Mandy and I were next door neighbours some 30 years ago but she moved to Australia and we lost touch anyway, thanks to windows messenger, she popped up this afternoon and we must have been on for at least an hour. She has not had it easy over the last few months - my life seems dull in comparison - but I hope that she sticks with it and that everything turns out the way she wants it to - and that we will meet up again someday, somewhere.

I learnt a lesson in speaking to her - sometimes we all get lost in our own lives and it is so true that we should all live for the day - who knows what tomorrow may bring.

Anyway, I am doing some lambs for a customer tonight - she wants 60 lambs for invitations that she is doing - might cut one spare and do you a card tomorrow!

Goodness, Wednesday again, where has the time gone. Hope you all had a lovely Easter and now can't face chocolate for weeks!

We had a lovely time, Alasdairs mother has a house up in Skye to which we went to on Friday. It was the first time we had been up since it had be renovated and whilst it wasn't how I would have done it - it was perfectly adequate for the weekend.

Thankfully the weather was kind to us as believe me there is nothing to do up there when it is raining!

We took Struan to his namesake
The hamlet of Struan only has a population of around 300 and it is a 'one blink and you will miss it kind of town' but a beautiful setting.

Struan was keen to climb a mountain so on Monday we decided to go up the 'Old Man of Stor' on the Trotternish peninsula. The view, because of the weather, was spectacular overlooking the sound of Raasay.

Struan and Alasdair managed up the 719 metres but as the last bit was very steep and rough I stayed back with Hamish.
We were all pretty tired but felt a great sense of pride at managing the climb!

It really is a stunning part of the world and if you get the weather in your favour there is nothing better.

Morning all, day three of school holidays...and we are both still alive!!!

Struan is over at Grannys this afternoon so I have had a chance to catch up on some work and get a card for you.

Some new clear stamps came in from Woodware today so I had to try them out and with spring in the air and blue skies (ok so there are a lot of white bits there too!) I got the flowery notion...

Also in were watercolour pencils and the Aqua flo ..for those of you who don't know what they are..they are brushes but with a barrel that you fill with water and therefore you can control how much water comes out to help blend your watercolours..great idea (just watch though - Struan had a go and we had water everywhere as he squeezed just a little too hard!)

I have matted the painted image onto some mirror board and then added a ribbon and matching bow - all available from the site!!
